In one of my earlier 3D modeling classes, we put our skills to the test by building out a room that told a narrative. Taking inspiration from the Indiana Jones series, I created a library scene showing that someone had used a stanchion to break open the floor, revealing a hidden room beneath it. Between my modeling and use of materials, I was not only able to create a captivating scene, but one that looked very life-like.
One of the last changes I made to this scene was building out all the books. To make the bookshelf look real, it was important to adjust the book sizes and alter their positions. I also used roughly 20 different book skins and other muted colors in the environment to ensure that the bookshelf looked realistic without taking too much of the focus away from what was happening on the floor.
